EYE/VIEW

26.08.2022, from 17:30

„FAD Summer School, UJEP amphitheater, Pasteurova 1, Ústí nad Labem.

In collaboration with Videocity, Dům umění Ústí nad Labem and Fakulty umění a designu Univerzity Jana Evangelisty Purkyně v Ústí nad Labem will be showing a selection of short films by Ukrainian artists during the FAD Summer School.

In view of the war, the curatorial concept of Eye/View acquired a highly-topical dimension: observing and being observed became situations that now affect everyone to an extraordinary degree. We made this threat more visible in the second part of the cycle. The video works by Yana Bachynska, Sergey Bratkov, Marina Dykukha, Olia Fedorova, Alina Kleytman, Maksym Khodak and Mykola Ridnyi have proven to be a prediction of war and testify to a life in fear and danger. The gaze regimes that are revealed in the videos revolve around: following, monitoring, focusing, remembering and the unexpected breaking out of the blue

Artists: Yana Bachynska, Sergey Bratkov, Copa & Sordes, Marina Dykukha, Olia Fedorova, Alina Kleytman (Kontakt Collection Vienna), Maksym Khodak, Mykola Ridnyi.

Alongside the exhibition, the Videocity team launched a fundraising campaign. With your donation, we will pay the artist fees for Ukrainian artists. As a thank you, you can chose to receive postcards or a special edition of scarves from the "Chernobyl Rose Hedge" project by Copa & Sordes. Videocity can provide a donation receipt on request.
