Open Studios SET Woolwich – 28th September from 4pm
Join us this September for our annual Open Studios across five of our sites! Meet artists in their studios to chat about their work, and view exhibitions in our project spaces. All events are free and open to everyone.
4pm –launch of the exhibition and start of the Open Studios
7pm – 7:30pm – experimental sound piece and sculpture unveiling from Mosquito Farm, created in response to “Let the Grassroots Grow” in the SET Garden.
Mosquito Farm started in 2022, a musical collaboration between Maddie Banwell and Grace Black, making music and object theatre with their hand built mechanical, analogue and acoustic instruments. Performances have taken place across multiple DIY venues in London, as well galleries and project spaces. They currently have 2 tracks released on SELN recordings
8pm – 9pm – an experimental live performance by leisure fm
leisure fm are a twin duo who draw inspiration from dream-pop, trip-hop, alt-pop, electronica and shoegaze, yet theirs is a completely unique sound. Their music is full of moody, melancholic reflections and poetic ruminations set to a hazy, hypnotising backdrop of guitars, synths and mesmerising vocals. Their latest project lurks in the shadowy spaces of lost love, sadness and existential dread, plus a bit of Greek mythology and romanticism.
12th October – Garden Workshop at SET Woolwich 2024 in October
Would you like to garden, gain knowledge and experience about gardening in the city, create a small green oasis together with people from your neighbourhood and contribute your ideas or simply get in touch with your neighbours and spend your free time outside in your neighbourhood?
This workshop will be led by Jack Jeans from Walworth Gardens. Jack is a Garden Education Officer at Walworth Garden, teaching students on our Level 2 Work-Based Horticulture Diploma courses. He lives in South London and volunteers on a variety of community growing initiatives as well as experimenting and developing new regenerative growing methods, closing waste stream loops and building healthy soil.
