Images inflate, take up space and dissolve the boundaries between body and surface. What was once solid becomes liquid – what seemed to be inanimate begins to breathe. States of being shift, identities oscillate between fixed and flowing forms. The landscape is concious, traversed by currents of data, organisms and mechanisms. Haptic gazes dig into a reality that no longer belongs to only humans.
The video works in the programme “Becoming A Butterfly” show the beginning of a speculative future. What remains of the human experience when images, machines and other beings determine our perception? What remains is a shimmering of forms, an echo of image, sound and matter – posthuman, infinite, breathing.
