Concept «In the Eye of the Beholder»

The January programme of the REX Box is curated by Linda Christa Bill. Linda is currently doing her Master's in Journalism and Communication at the HKB in Bern. In 2020, she started at Videocity as an intern and is now curating her first exhibition.

Linda Christa Bill writes:

«In the eye of the beholder – is this the beauty that lies within? And what is this beauty? Is it the perception that penetrates us through our eyes and has an effect on our inner being? Our perception is subjective, and our eyelids also selectively determine the moments we see. They are both the inner and outer sensory protective gateway. Apparently, the left eye provides a direct insight into the soul. Is this really true? The eye in itself is a complex organ; lined with eyelashes that blink gracefully. If you take a closer look at the eye, you recognise, for example, the sensuality of blinking, the sweetness of eye movements or even the somewhat strange thing that an eye inherently is. It is important to pay more attention to the bizarre beauty of this micro-organ. The eye is, at first glance, an impenetrable mystery."‘
