Videocity visits Raum für Kunst im ECK – FOOD Processing

The FOOD cycle stages a dialogue between food production and processing. Food itself encompasses opposing poles: gourmet meals with exquisite ingredients and elaborate preparation methods on the one hand, food as a fundamental human right, as the root of differing opinions, cultures, and morals on the other. Food as an imperative for our survival in crises or famine and as a reason for massive animal killings and ecologically problematic interventions in nature.

For the duration of the exhibition, Adelia Imobersteg will use the room as a studio. The leitmotif of processing, production and consumption chosen in relation to the location will be reinterpreted with various media and interventions. The artist will react to the videos and manipulate the screening order. Where previously the butchers and salespeople stood with their meat products, you can now find Adelia Imobersteg and her work. With her durational performance, the artist exposes herself to the public eye and the uncertain outcome of her work process – we are looking forward to seeing how she processes the food!

Der FOOD Videozyklus inszeniert einen Dialog zwischen der Produktion der Verarbeitung des Essens. Essen an sich umfasst gegensätzliche Pole: Gourmetmahlzeiten mit exquisiten Zutaten und aufwendigen Zubereitungsmethoden auf der einen Seite, Essen als grundlegendes Menschenrecht, als Wurzel sich scheidender Meinungen, Kulturen und Moralvorstellungen auf der anderen Seite. Nahrung als zwingende Notwendigkeit für unser Überleben in Krisen oder bei Hungersnöten und als Grund massenhafter Tiertötungen und ökologisch problematischer Eingriffe in die Natur.

Adelia Imobersteg, die 2021 ihr Studium an der Hochschule für Gestaltung und Kunst FHNW im Fach Visuelle Kommunikation absolvierte, nutzt währen der Ausstellungsdauer das Eck als Atelier. Sie setzt sich mit den im Schaufenster gezeigten Videos auseinander und bearbeitet erneut die Leitmotive Konsum, Verarbeitung und Produktion. Punktuell zu den genannten Öffnungszeiten gewährt Adelia Imobersteg dem Publikum Einblick in ihren Schaffensprozess.
