The exhibition “Eye/View/Glass/Mirror” shows three video works/films by Austrian artists from different generations. The works visualise the forming of the female subject, navigating multiple visibilities within the image. Placed against a glass plane or within a reflection, body parts are flattened and distorted, challenging the specific models of female representation. Our eyes are being asked to follow the movements of the women and their bodies from different perspectives. All the selected works operate within a modernist and minimal aesthetic, which is individually reconsidered by each of the artists using conceptual tools. The female body becomes a symbol for gradual moments of visibility, questioning both the mediated presence and absence.
